The Division Webinar Series

As it is our goal to improve the communications between the unit, battalion, regiment and division levels - we are hopeful that this "Webinar Tool" be a valuable resource to share knowledge and information between the Division Young Marines and Staff.

By encouraging the Young Marines to use "Leadership by Example" we, as R/A's must do the same thing - and taking the iniative to educate ourselves is the first step.  We hope you will join us for these free Webinar sessions throughout the upcoming year.

A:   A webinar is an on-line, interactive communications session that permits logged in users to communicate with each other. This communication tool allows a presenter or multiple presenters to display, via a web session, information on their computer to other users and to verbally discuss the material in real time. It is as if you are sitting in a meeting room and viewing a presentation, but not really being there. It is a virtual meeting.

A:  The first, and probably the most important, reason is cost. By being able to conduct meetings and training sessions direction to a members home there are no expenses for travel, hotels, etc. All you need is a computer and access to the world wide web (www), You log on to the internet at the appointed time and join the webinar session and you can do it from your home in your pajamas.

Another important benefit of this tool is that it greatly simplifies the logistics of setting up a meeting and with the system available 24/7 and capable of handling up to 100 subscribers for each session it should easily accommodate 99% of our Young Marine meeting and training requirements.

As a webinar subscriber, you are encouraged to explore how you might use this tool within your unit, battalion, and regiment. With proper monitoring and supervision, we will be extending this tool to our Senior Young Marines for their use as well.

A:  All 6th Division units will be able to access and receive training and group meeting sessions. These sessions will be scheduled in advance and e-mail notifications will be distributed to each unit. Only those units that have paid the annual $20.00 subscription fee however will be permitted to be presenters or to schedule the system for their units use. What this means is that units that have not subscribed can sit in on sessions as part of the audience, but they will not be allowed to conduct a webinar.

A:   General instructions for logging in to a webinar session will be posted as a .pdf on the Division web site. Those units that have subscribed to use the webinar product will also receive instructions and training on how to conduct a webinar session. Minimal instruction on the use of this user friendly product is anticipated.

A:   The subscription cost for the webinar is $20.00 per year. This is an annual fee. There are no other costs for each webinar session. $20.00 covers the use of the system for the entire year and the system is available 24/7. Those units that elect not to pay the annual $20.00 subscription fee will be permitted to be a part of the audience during meetings and training session, however, they will not be allowed to schedule or conduct meeting or training sessions using the webinar product.

A:   We plan on posting most of the material from the webinars on the Division web site for you to access and download. These sessions will probably be mostly PowerPoint presentations lasting approximately 60 minutes with about 30 slides.  The handout material will most likely be posted as a .pdf.
