 | A MESSAGE FROM THE DIVISION COMMANDER | Young Marine 24/7
I was once asked by a Unit Commander if he was responsible for the conduct of his Young Marines during the time they were not attending a Young Marine event. Good question, and one that every person associated with the Young Marine program needs to consider. My response is as follows: The Young Marine Code of Conduct, Obligation, and Creed does not set time limits on when these standards are and are not in effect. If you are a Young Marine, you are a Young Marine 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Your actions and conduct should be such that it reflects well on the Young Marine program. The Young Marine program teaches responsibility and accountability, every Young Marine is responsible and accountable for his or her actions every second, minute, hour, and day. As we approach our annual re-registration period, it would be appropriate to review these standards of conduct with all of our members posted: 03/30/2011 |

For both recruits and instructors, the weekend is a learning experience. Corporal Michael Emond, one of the instructors, noted, "I learned a lot from the last group teaching, so it's a lot smoother to go through this time. I know what to teach, when to teach it, when to raise my voice, when to lower my voice." One of the recruits, Ashlynne Cummings, said, "I hope to stay in Young Marines until I graduate but I don't know if I'll go into the Marines. I definitely would consider joining the military though."
